Join us at Mercy Hill for a free active threat response event. Dustin Chappell, a trained and experienced security expert, will be coming to educate the community on how to protect themselves and each other from the threat of an active shooter situation.

Workshop Overview:

The possibility of facing an active shooter is a growing threat in our society. As a means of protecting our own congregation and the community we serve, we would like to offer this Active Threat Defense Workshop. Come to learn how to protect yourself, your family, and those around you from the threat of an active shooter situation. Our qualified safety expert, Dustin Chappell, was the former director of the National Training Center for the US State Department and has over 24 years of experience in active threat assessment and response. He will be joining us to offer effective methods of protection we can all put into practice now.

Active Threat Assessment Trainer

Dustin Chappell was the former director of the National Training Center of the U.S. State Department and was the author of the Active Threat Response Program which has been adopted by over 50 agencies nationwide.

Mr. Chappell has over 24 years experience teaching Active Threat assessment and response. He is a retired combat veteran and currently teaches Active Shooter Single Officer Response to law enforcement, SRT, and school resource officers. Mr. Chappell has taught Active Shooter Response in several of the schools nationwide that have been victims of active shooters as well as law enforcement officers for the United Nations. He is a certified Master Active Shooter Instructor.

Mr. Chappell also teaches the ALICE and ALERT Active Shooter Threat Assessment for schools, businesses, and houses of worship. He trains missionaries who are going to travel overseas and live in non-permissive environments, and has helped establish and train church security teams on the east coast.

A note on childcare: If you are bringing children to this event, please select the “WITH CHILDREN” ticket option and fill out the informational form. We need this information to ensure safe and proper care of all kids in attendance. We will serve kids from ages 0-10. Kids 11 and above are welcome to join the main event.
